Rules of air transport for Lithium Ion and Lithium Metal batteries will be changed from 2013

Effective 1 January, 2013 from the 54th edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, new rules on lithium batteries will be introduced.

To ensure flight safety and simultaneously to provide a smooth transport service, we have summarized those changes for your perusal and guidance. Kindly refer to the attachments.

These rules will become effective from 2013, therefore, during the current year 2012, we are not in a position to transport lithium batteries utilizing these rules.

Should there be any discrepancy between this paper and the forthcoming 54th Edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation, kindly understand that the latter will prevail.

Please also note that ANA will not be held responsible for any loss or damage caused by errors, omissions, misprints or misinterpretation of the rules provided in these papers.

We sincerely appreciate your support and understanding to our effort in maintaining flight safety.
