Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC) Handling in 2013

Effective 1 January 2013 from the 54th Edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, a new entry under a proper shipping name of ?CAPACITOR? (Electric Double Layer Capacitor ? ELDC ? with an energy storage capacity greater than 0.3 Wh) will be introduced as UN3499 in Class 9.

To ensure flight safety and simultaneously to provide a smooth transport service, we have summarized the handling of EDLC for your perusal and guidance. Kindly refer to the attachments.

These rules will become effective from 2013, therefore, during the current year 2012, we are not in a position to transport this article utilizing these rules.

Should there be any discrepancy between this paper and the forthcoming 54th Edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation, kindly understand that the latter will prevail.
